WHY COLLECT?
Most of the art we offer has been published, and comes from the magical days when the art that was used to make comic books, book and magazine covers, and other printed media, was all done by hand.
Why is this art so special besides being really cool to look at? It is rare! This type of original art was only made during a very short window in time - most of it within the span of less than 50 years. Today, most commercial artists work only in a digital format (and have been doing so for years), not pencil, ink and paint. This means that no physical art is being created like it was once before. And if you really want to get depressed, look at AI "art? This is not even human-created, and like digital art that dominates today's art output, it has no physical form, and therefore, possesses ZERO intrinsic value.
To add further to the scarcity of this art genre, original comic art that was drawn to make comic books, was once considered a worthless or low value by-product of the comic book manufacturing process. It was often discarded, or divided up between the inker and penciler, after being used for the publication. The same goes for original paintings done for books, magazines, trading cards, etc. In many cases, the publishing company never even returned the painting to the artist! Much of that art ended up in a trash dumpster after it was photographed by the printer.
Today, the opposite is true. There is an insatiable, GROWING demand and love for original comic art and original illustration art! TIME VAULT ART presents an exceptional inventory of some of these rare, vintage treasures for purchase.
